Creating Motion Graphics for Molly Thompson’s UK Travel Monopoly Series
I recently had the chance to create motion graphics for Molly Thompson’s “WE PLAYED UK TRAVEL MONOPOLY IN REAL LIFE!” series — and this one was genuinely a blast to work on. The whole concept is based on the Monopoly board, but instead of buying properties, Molly and the team travel to the real-life locations across the UK. My job was to build visuals that make that journey easy to follow and fun to watch.
To bring everything to life, I designed the assets in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, recreating the familiar Monopoly-style graphics while giving them a clean, modern look. Once the designs were ready, I animated everything in After Effects — from map transitions to location highlights — so viewers can clearly see where each “move” takes Molly next.
The graphics help tie the whole series together: locations pop up, routes are highlighted, and the pace stays engaging without distracting from the adventure. It’s a great mix of playful visuals and clean information design.
Working on this series was such a fun challenge, especially blending a classic board game aesthetic with real-world travel footage.
